Qi 4 Life
(pronounced chee for life)
I discovered traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) through personal experience. My early childhood was influenced by
my father who was a Homeopathic physician. He introduced me to medicine from a holistic perspective. I believe
the human body was created to be self-healing and that the visible symptoms of illneww are often the sign
of some sort of internal imbalance. The asian healing arts have known this and have successfully
treated billions of people in a holistic way for several thousand years.
I approach Oriental Wellness as practiced in China as TCM and in other Asian countries.
It is a holistic approach that integrates the mind, body and spirit. There are four general modalities that constitute TCM.
They are: Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Massage, and Energy. Each of these work in their own ways to
manipulate the body's own internal energy known as Qi (or Chi) so as to provide healing.
In 1985, I was diagnosed with 4th stage Melanoma, an advanced form of cancer. The cancer had already spread
from my skin into my lymphatic system. My doctors said that I would likely be dead within a matter of only a few
months. The cancer was removed by surgery. Following that, I volunteered for an experimental protocol using
chemotherapy. This protocol was subsequently found to be ineffective. So, tired and debilitated from the
year-long study, I joining a beginner's class in Taijiquan (T'ai Chi) hoping to regain some of my
strength and vitality. Through the practice of Taiji, I got in touch with my internal energy and learned about
QiGong or "energy work". Ulitmately, this led me taking classes in Reiki (a Japanese energy modality). This was
later followed by classes in Chinese QiGong and then by an intensive course of study at
the prestigious China Academy of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Today, my energy and vitality have greatly improved, my health has recovered, and I have been cancer-free for
30 years. In addition, my life-long symptoms of asthma have been greatly reduced and my seasonal allergies have
all but disappeared. I believe that this is all a direct result of practicing Chinese Taiji and QiGong. I now hold
certificates in traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and Qi healing. I am also a Reiki/Seichim Master and
a member of the International Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan Association. I have had the great fortune to study
with several great Taiji Masters. I have taught classes in Taiji and QiGong. I also teach meditation, practice
several types of oriental healing, and provide professional personal coaching.
